Triplett Harps

Ans van der Harten, likes to introduce herselve as the mistress of Dreamharps with a selection of the Triplett Harps shown by her and the people of Omnia. At this page you will find all the information concerning the Triplett Harps.

Triplett Harps has been designed & building high quality instruments since 1980. Their harps are designed with consideration for tonal excellence, graceful lines, and fine workmanship. The wide range of sizes and styles accomodates the needs of beginning to advanced harpers. Careful attention to detail is evident in the construction and finish of every harp. Triplett Harps are available in a choice of walnut, cherry, maple or bubinga. The soundboards are resonant cedar & sitka spruce. Triplett Harps are known for their exceptional tone. The high octaves and midrange are notable for their brilliance and clarity, while the bass is full and resonant. With the exeption of the Zephyr and the Christina models, Triplett Harps come standard with Camac levers: Truitt levers may be installed instead at an additional cost.

Triplett offers several options on their harps: various selections of abalone inlay, koi fish on soundboard, Celtic knot maple inlay on T-brace, laser engraving on T-brace, cap or soundboard. Look at the pictures below on this page for more information. All prices on this website are basic prices including 19% VAT.

Triplett Laser Engraving

The Sirius artwork (North or Dog Star) was specially designed for the 38 string Eclipse harp by Steve Triplett. His artistry combined with skilled carving and laser etching make this model a Celtic thing of beauty. This design can be used on any sized harp equipped with a forepillar and looks stunning on the Avalon.

Abalone Inlay

Abalone is one of the most beautiful natural enhancements available. Utilizing laser technology Triplett can offer our customers extraordinary design motifs at a fraction of the cost of laborious old fashioned methods. Because of the fact that abalone is a natural shell, it can create a truly unique addition to your harp. The harp models that have forepillars provide a great location for our custom touch!

Soundboards

Triplett uses the highest-grade woods for their harps. They are available in Cherry, Walnut, Maple, and Bubinga. Each of these woods have a different sound or "voice." The wood tonal difference is slight, while the variation in each of the following models is assorted. Once you decide on the model, we always suggest getting the wood that yo like to look at since all Triplett Harps have a complete sound. Walnut and cherry tend to reverberate like each other, being warm and full while maple, in a larger harp, can have more sustain and projection, and bubinga is mellow and rounded. After saying that, there are some harps that will confuse this theory...that is why you should always pick what you like to look at! Triplett does not veneer or laminate the necks and bodies of the instrument: they are all solid hardwoods. Their "Fine Line" instruments have a soundboard constructed of 1/3 cedar and 2/3 spruce which make up the core, to which we add a veneer of hardwood for the top, thus producing a composite structure. The process is then finished by tapering the sounboard.
.
The examples shown are of their hardwood veneers which can be used on the instruments that have composite soundboards. Since they re-cut all their wood at the factory, the veneers on the soundboard, and the wood of the bodies and necks match perfectly since they are all sliced out of the same tree. Triplett can then "book match" the instrument for superior beauty.

Enhancements/Marquetry

There is nothing more spectacular than the look of marquetry. Inlaying wood into wood with precision and elegance enhances the magnificence of any harp. Utilizing laser technology, the accuracy and detail that is obtained rivals Old World artistic techniques. These designs do not affect the surface texture of the harps and therein lies the perfection of marquetry. Shown here are examples that can be used on any model's soundboard and on harps which features a forepillar or T-Brace.
